Apple’s new Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are obviously the hottest new iPhones of the year. Apple introduced not one but two new colors to its iPhone lineup this past September, but the glossy Jet Black finish is all anyone could talk about. The company’s new Jet Black iPhones were practically impossible to find for months after launch — especially the larger iPhone 7 Plus. Of course, Apple fans are never satisfied and after seeing the Apple Watch Series 2 Edition model in white ceramic, they began to yearn for a Jet White iPhone to complement the new Jet Black model.

Rumors first began to emerge late last year that Apple is planning to release its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in Jet White at some point, but those rumors have cooled off since last November. Regardless of Apple’s plans, we have some good news: The Jet White iPhone is real, and it’ll only cost you $19 to get one.

Home AppsApps Features Gadgets 360 Staff, 24 February 2017 Highlights Google Maps now allows you to create multiple lists
These lists can be shared with friends or even tweeted
Locations can belong to multiple lists Like most of the people we know, we're also completely reliant on Google Maps to get around. Of course, like most services, Google's navigation isn't without its quirks – which can become a real problem, sometimes. That said, it's still a very useful tool, and recently, Google announced a new feature that makes it even better – the ability to create shareable lists of places. This feature lets you mark out places that family and friends should know about.
For example, if a friend is visiting Delhi and wants to know where to find the best Old Delhi paranthas, and the tastiest butter chicken, and the perfect chana bathura, then you could write them a long mail explaining where everything is – or just mark out your picks on the map, and then share the list.
Why should I use Google Maps lists?
You could always save locations on your map by 'starring' them but there was no easy organisation of this information. With lists, Google Maps makes your saved locations more useful and easier to sort. For example, looking at our starred list showed 183 places around the world – handy if you want to see every place you've ever thought important enough to save, but otherwise, not very useful.
With the new Google Maps lists feature, you can use certain predefined lists – Starred Places, Favourites, and Want to Go. Apart from this, there's the New list button, which you can tap to create a new list. This allows a lot more organisation – particularly as places can be in more than one list at a time.
For example, you might add a newly opened restaurant that you've read a lot of good reviews about to your Want to go list, but also to your custom made Fine dining list. You might add Lodhi Gardens to your Favourites list, and also to a list you made called Monuments of Delhi.
How do I make Google Maps lists?
Using a Google Maps list is very simple. It doesn't work on the desktop, so you have to use your Android or Apple mobile device. Since Google has standardised design across platforms, using lists works the same whether you're using an entry-level Android, or the latest iPhone.
This is what you need to do to create a Google Maps list:
Open Google Maps – obviously. Pan around the map to find the location you want to add to the list, or find it via the search bar. Tap on the location to show the information about it. On a phone, swipe the menu to show options (on an iPad the options show up from the start). Tap the Save button. Now, tap on an existing list, or tap on + New list to create a new list. If you chose an existing list, you're done. If you are creating a new list, enter the name, and then tap on Create.
That's it, you're done. Now, you can repeat these steps as often as you'd like, to add new locations, or add the same location to multiple lists.
How to share Google Maps lists
Sharing, editing, and deleting lists is equally simple. This is how it works.
How to share Google Maps lists:
Open Google Maps. Swipe in from the left or press the menu button (three horizontal lines) to show the hidden menu. Tap on Your places. Tap on Saved. Here, you'll see all your saved lists, with details on whether they're private or shared, and how many places are on the list. You can tap on a list to see all the entries on it, or tap on the hamburger menu (three dots in a vertical stack) on the right. Tap Share list to share a list, and tap Continue. This generates a link that you can share – anyone who has the link can follow it, so your links can be shared by mail or message to a friend, or tweeted out for anyone to see. After that, the list's status will change from Private to shared. If you want, you can tap on the hamburger menu again, and this time tap on Sharing options. Here, you can change the link from Shared to Private, or Public – public lists show up on Google search results.
With the custom Google Maps lists, you also have the option to delete the list, by tapping on Delete list in step 6. With all the lists, you can also tap on Edit list to add or remove places from the list. You also have the option of tapping Hide on your map – this way, you can create a list for a friend, without having it show up on your map all the time.
As of now, that's all you can do with Google Maps lists. It's actually a pretty interesting and useful feature, and it's going to be worth watching to see how other people are making use of this. However, there's one small quibble we have with the feature right now – you can't set custom colours for custom lists. This means that a location that's Starred or Favourited, or in the Want to go list stands out visually on the map, with a gold star, red heart, or green bookmark respectively, but all your custom lists are just a boring blue square. This means that if you have multiple lists, you can't just glance at the map and figure out what is near you.
What do you think about Google Maps' new lists feature, and how are you planning on using it? Tell us – and other readers – via the comments below.

Home AppsApps News Reuters, 24 February 2017 Highlights Mitch and Freada Kapor rebuked Uber after recent harassment allegations
Uber repeated its commitment to investigate Fowler's claims
The Kapors say conflicts of interest may hinder the investigation Early investors in Uber Technologies Inc wrote to the ride-hailing company on Thursday to criticise it for failing to end a toxic culture of harassment.
Mitch and Freada Kapor publicly rebuked the company after former Uber employee Susan Fowler described in a blog how she was sexually harassed by a manager and that human resources and upper management refused to punish the offender and even threatened her with a bad performance review.
“Uber's outsize success in terms of growth of market share, revenues and valuation are impressive, but can never excuse a culture plagued by disrespect, exclusionary cliques, lack of diversity, and tolerance for bullying and harassment of every form,” the Kapors wrote in an online letter.
The Kapors are the only investors to have publicly commented on the recent allegations against Uber. The couple runs the Oakland-based Kapor Center, which works to promote diversity and inclusion in technology.
“Uber has had countless opportunities to do the right thing,” they wrote. “We feel we have hit a dead end.”
Several other Uber investors and board members did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Menlo Ventures, which led Uber's Series B financing in 2011, declined to comment.
Uber did not directly address the Kapors' letter but repeated its commitment to investigate Fowler's claims. Uber has hired former US Attorney General Eric Holder to lead the investigation alongside attorney Tammy Albarran.
“We will be thorough, impartial and objective, and we are conducting this review with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism,” Holder and Albarran said in a statement on Thursday in response to the Kapors' letter.
The Kapors, though, called out conflicts of interest that may hinder the investigation. Holder has been working for Uber since June to dissuade lawmakers from requiring fingerprint background checks for drivers. He will be joined by Uber board member Arianna Huffington and the company's HR chief.
“We are disappointed to see that Uber has selected a team of insiders to investigate its destructive culture and make recommendations for change,” they wrote.
The Kapors' letter raised eyebrows in Silicon Valley where investors usually defend their startups.
“I applaud the honesty of the Kapors for commenting on these highly sensitive issues and highlighting the importance of culture in the workplace,” said Susan Lucas-Conwell, former CEO of Great Place to Work and adviser to technology companies on diversity and inclusion. “I can't think of when I've see such a statement from an investor of a company such as Uber.”

Apple Claims iOS 10.2.1 Has Significantly Reduced Unexpected iPhone Shutdowns

Home MobilesMobiles News Shekhar Thakran, 24 February 2017 Highlights Update claimed to reduce issue by up to 80 percent on iPhone 6s
Apple says 50 percent of active devices have upgraded to new version
Update was rolled out last month Apple has claimed that iOS 10.2.1, which was released by the company last month, has significantly reduced the unexpected shutdowns that were experienced by some iPhone users. As per the company's claims, the unexpected shutdowns have been reduced by up to 80 percent on iPhone 6s devices and by up to 70 percent on iPhone 6 models.
With its software update, Apple has claimed to have largely fixed the issue where the devices would shut down unexpectedly and will require charging ports to power back on, as per statement provided to TechCrunch. As per the company, over half of the active iOS devices have already upgraded to iOS 10.2.1.
“With iOS 10.2.1, Apple made improvements to reduce occurrences of unexpected shutdowns that a small number of users were experiencing with their iPhone. iOS 10.2.1 already has over 50 percent of active iOS devices upgraded and the diagnostic data we've received from upgraders shows that for this small percentage of users experiencing the issue, we're seeing a more than 80 percent reduction in iPhone 6s and over 70 percent reduction on iPhone 6 of devices unexpectedly shutting down,” Apple said in a statement to TechCrunch.
Even though the company says that the update has largely fixed the issue for most users, it has still not eliminated it altogether. This is why the company has now added the ability for the devices to restart without being connected to power after shutting down unexpectedly, as per the statement.
“It is important to note that these unexpected shutdowns are not a safety issue, but we understand it can be an inconvenience and wanted to fix the issue as quickly as possible. If a customer has any issues with their device they can contact AppleCare,” the company added.
Notably, this is not the same shutdown issue that was reported by some iPhone 6s users last year when the Cupertino-based company had to offer free battery replacement program for the affected devices. Despite not completely solving the issue, the update is likely to get rid of the frustration for a majority of users that can be caused due to an unexpected shutdown of their iPhone.

Home MobilesMobiles News Ketan Pratap, 23 February 2017 Highlights iOS 10 now running on 79 percent active iOS devices
Little over five months after release, iOS 10 has reached this milestone
During the same period, iOS 9 was running on 77 percent devices Apple released iOS 10 nearly six months ago, and it is now running on 79 percent of active iOS devices. The Cupertino-based company updated its App Store Distribution page to show the OS distribution data of App Store visitors on February 20 2017, split between iOS 10, iOS 9, and earlier iOS versions.
The App Store Distribution page says that 79 percent or the majority of devices are now running iOS 10, followed by 16 percent running iOS 9, and 5 percent running earlier versions. The iOS 10 mobile operating system saw slightly slower adoption rate initially compared to its predecessor though it now evidently has some momentum. Apple Insider points out that iOS 9 during the same period last year was running on 77 percent of active iOS devices which makes iOS 10 slightly better in terms of adoption compared to its predecessor. To recall, iOS 10 was running on over 50 percent active iOS devices in less than a month after its initial release.
To refresh, iOS 10 brought heaps of improvements to the iMessage, Maps, Music, and Photos apps. Some of the other notable features included new notification design, and the Control Center which also received a revamp.
The latest OS sales data figures from Apple reveals that iOS adoption has seen a boost thanks to tremendous sales of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple last month reported that during its holiday 2016 quarter sold 78.3 million iPhones – the most ever in a quarter – up five percent from the same holiday shopping period last year.
