It does not disable the notifications but just mutes them (the notifications may still appear). Maybe it is a festival day, and you cannot block all of your friends or mute them one by one to stop receiving notifications.

How to turn off all notifications of an specific App

Unfortunately, there isn’t a kill switch to stop all the notifications instantly. You only have the option to disable notifications by selecting a specific app of your choice. To do that, you need to follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Launch the Settings.
  2. Scroll down to find “Notifications” option. Tap on it to proceed.
  3. You will find a lot of applications listed. Among the list, tap on any of the apps you would like to turn off notifications completely. For instance, we need to disable all the notifications that pop up from Cymera app (as shown in the image above). We need to select it. And, then from the options available, tap on “Allow Notifications” (which should be enabled by default) to turn off all notifications from that specific app.

How to prevent notifications from showing up in the Notification Center

Suppose you want the notifications to pop up, but you do not want that to clog up in your notification center, then the steps mentioned below will help.

  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down to encounter “Notifications” option. Tap on it to move forward.
  3. Now, select an app from the list of which you do not want the notifications to stay in the notification center. For instance, we chose twitter in the image above.
  4. You just have to tap on the option which says – “Show in Notification Centre” to disable it.

How to turn off notifications on the Lock Screen

Similar to the above methods, you cannot really turn off the notifications on the lock screen for all the apps in an instant. You will have to choose a preferred app (or multiple apps) to turn off the notifications to show up on the lock screen.

  1. Head into the Settings.
  2. Scroll down to encounter “Notifications” option. Tap on it to proceed.
  3. Now, select an app from the list of which you do not want the notifications to appear on the lock screen. For instance, we chose twitter in the image above.
  4. You just have to tap on the option which says – “Show on Lock Screen” to disable it.

How to turn off notification: disable Badge App Icons

The counter (indicating numbers) you see on the app icons if there are messages to be read or calls that you missed. It is exactly called as the badge app icons. If you disable it, you will not observe any kind of counter for that specified app.

To disable it, follow the steps mentioned below.

  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down to encounter “Notifications” option. Tap on it to proceed.
  3. Now, select an app for which you want to disable the badge app icons.
  4. Finally, you just have to tap on the option which says – “Badge App Icon” to disable it.

How to turn off notification sounds on iPhone

You now know how to turn off the notifications visually. What about the alert sound? You might want the pop up to happen but without a sound notification. If you need to achieve the same, follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Head into the Settings app.
